Goodbye, Loadster Workbench

Rumors of Loadster Workbench’s demise have not been exaggerated. It’s officially EOL as of May 1st, 2020. Let’s thank Loadster Workbench for all the good times, and look forward to more good times to come while moving faster on the web platform.

Further Reading

Loadster Workbench was a downloadable desktop application that served as the primary way to create and run load tests with Loadster for several years. It handled script recording, editing, and test execution locally on the user’s machine.

With the shift to the web platform, all of these capabilities moved to the cloud-based dashboard. Script recording now happens through a browser extension, script editing is through the web interface, and test execution runs on cloud infrastructure across multiple regions worldwide. The web platform also brought collaborative features like team management, shared projects, and the ability to access your scripts and test results from anywhere.

For users who need to run tests against private networks not reachable from the cloud, Loadster still supports self-hosted engines as an alternative to the default cloud-based execution.
